Community of Practice (CoP) in Autism in Rhode Island will present "Context Blindness: What It Is and How You Can Help" with presenters Amanda Florio and Amanda Claus.

"Context blindness” refers to difficulties autistic people may have in understanding and integrating contextual information. This challenge can significantly impact learning, social interactions and emotional regulation.

Addressing context blindness within school settings is crucial for fostering student understanding and engagement.

Come learn about context blindness and how educators can collaborate to develop effective support strategies that promote academic, social and emotional growth for autistic learners. 

At the end of the session, attendees will:

  1. Define what context blindness is   
  2. Discuss at least three ways context blindness impacts learning, social interaction and daily routines
  3. List at least five practical strategies to help students with context blindness
  4. Explain why collaboration is essential in addressing context blindness
     

Professional development
A general letter of attendance will be available at the end of the presentation.
Continuing Education credits (2 credit hours) from NASW-RI and RIMCHA will be available pending approval.
