Self-Directed Supports Network Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about self-directed supports or looking to connect with others. The Network meets monthly on a Wednesday from 7 - 8:30 p.m. using Zoom.
The Self-Directed Supports Network is a resource for individuals using self-directed supports through the Division of Developmental Disabilities / BHDDH, family members, caregivers and professionals. These meetings cover important topics related to self-direction, where speakers discuss key issues and attendees can ask questions, voice concerns and meet others using self-directed supports.
Network meetings are coordinated by the Sherlock Center. Upcoming meeting dates are listed below. When you RSVP, you will receive an email with the directions and a passcode to join the meeting using Zoom.
At this meeting, Vicki Ferrara, Coordinator of Access to Integrated Employment and WIPA Director, discussed the DD (Developmental Disability) Employment and Day Activity survey. Nancy Lewis-Oliver, NCI Survey Specialist, spoke about the NCI (National Core Indicator) Survey.
At this meeting, Melissa Greenlief from Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH), an administrator of community services focused on residential, briefly explained shared living arrangements (SLA) and the eligibility required. Joanne Malise (LCSW, Director) and Cliff Alston (Program Manager) from Living Innovations, Rachel Morgan (Director), and Nicole Prefontaine from Perspectives Corporation spoke about SLA.
We held an in-person event, Jingle Mingle, a networking opportunity with the Self-Directed Supports Network members and Sherlock Sentinels.

Kim M. Einloth, Coordinator of Youth and Adult Initiatives at the Sherlock Center, facilitated the meeting.
Kim M. Einloth, Coordinator of Youth and Adult Initiatives at the Sherlock Center presented an overview of the Independent Facilitator/Conflict-Free Case Manager (IF/CFCM) Curriculum and discussed the Rhode Island State Workforce Initiative (RISWI).
Jackie Camilloni, Coordinator of Self-Directed Supports, and Heather Mincey, Assistant Director, both from Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) answered questions about the new Direct Support Professional/Employee technical bulletin and employee updates.
At this meeting, Victoria Ferrara, M.A., coordinator, Access to Integrated Employment, spoke about the Day and Employment Activities Survey. Kathleen A. Sherlock, Esq., consultant, Sargent Rehabilitation Center’s Regional Resource Center, discussed Supported Decision Making (SDM) and alternatives to guardianship. (Timestamp 42:14)
At this meeting, we had a dialogue with Courtney DiDonato from Work Inc., who spoke about employment services/supports, and Jay MacKay from Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals, who talked about Targeted Employment Funds and other funding/services available for those who self-direct and are interested in employment.
