The Sherlock Center invites families and their young adults with developmental disabilities (14 to 22 years of age) and the professionals who support them to attend this FREE series about school-to-employment and everything in between.
Sept. 23, 26, 30 and Oct. 3, 2024
FEAT is a four-part series. Attendees are encouraged to attend all sessions, but it is not required. Each session will be a live, interactive training using Zoom. Participants are strongly encouraged to actively engage during the training series.
Dates | Topic | Description |
Session 1: Sept. 23 5-6:30 p.m. | Building the Dream of Employment | This session features an introduction to employment in Rhode Island and a panel of youth who are successfully employed. |
Session 2: Sept. 26 5-6:30 p.m. | Planning the Transition to Employment | This session explores the roles of the family and the school (Transition IEP) in planning for employment. |
Session 3: Sept. 30 5-6:30 p.m. | Possibilities for Employment | This session addresses supported and customized employment as well as outside-the-box employment possibilities. |
Session 4: Oct. 3 5-6:30 p.m. | Accessing Adult Supports for Employment | This session will introduce supports from the Office of Rehabilitation Services, the Division of Developmental Disabilities and for self-employment. |
