Family Employment Awareness Training

Session 1 provides an overview of the series and is required for all participants. Participants can register for one or both of the next topical sessions. Session 2 focuses on youth, and Session 3 focuses on adults.

All sessions are live, interactive trainings offered virtually through Zoom. Recordings will not be provided to registrants. Participants are strongly encouraged to actively engage and participate throughout the training series.

Session 1, Oct. 5: FEAT Overview

• Introduction to employment in Rhode Island
• Supported and customized employment
• Self-employment
• Types of employment supports

Session 2, Oct. 7: FEAT for Youth (FEAT-Y)

Geared toward ages 14–22.

• Panel of young adults successfully employed in Rhode Island
• School-to-employment and everything in between
• The role of families/parents and schools in the transition to work
• Employment support funding

Session 3, Oct. 14: FEAT for Adults (FEAT-A)

• Panel of adults successfully employed in Rhode Island
• Contributing to the employment process
• Employment services and supports
• Planning for tomorrow

All participants receive:

• Training materials and resources.
• Opportunity to network with families, employees and entrepreneurs.
• Knowledge of state, federal and community resources that support employment.
• Help and follow-up to support next steps.
