The Sherlock Center is seeking applicants for its interdisciplinary traineeship designed to prepare individuals from varying backgrounds to be future leaders in the disability field.
Opportunities are available for graduate students and undergraduate juniors and seniors in the disciplines of education, school psychology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation counseling, business and other areas that impact the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
Sherlock Center trainees engage in a variety of experiences that focus on supporting individuals with a disability to gain skills to have positive influence in their lives. Trainees are expected to:
- Participate in 20 hours of work per month to gain skills and knowledge through a variety of experiences.
- Work with a Sherlock Center employee to develop a plan of work based on trainee interest and Sherlock Center needs.
- Attend a monthly two-hour interdisciplinary seminar starting in September 2024 at the Sherlock Center and/or online. Days and times will be determined and based on the group’s availability.
Trainees will receive a $500 monthly stipend from September to May, totaling $5,000 for their yearlong commitment. Additionally, they may have the opportunity to attend a fully funded disability-related conference.
