Advocates in Action and the Sherlock Center invite you to a screening of the feature documentary, “Best Judgment: Ladd School Lessons.”
Over 15 years in the making, “Best Judgment” examines the history of the Joseph Ladd Center, Rhode Island’s former institution for those people judged to have developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The Ladd Center story unfolds against a backdrop of a unique filmmaking process in which a film crew including former Ladd Center residents and other individuals living with disabilities works with several media professionals to produce an “out of the box” exploration of the dark history of the institution. The film concludes by considering a path toward a “better judgment.”
A panel discussion with filmmakers, former Ladd Center residents and experts in the field of disabilities will follow the screening.
This event is free, but space is limited and registration using the link below is required for admission. Event location will be included in registration confirmation email.
