Introduction to Early Intervention

This multi-day training is only available to staff newly employed by Rhode Island Early Intervention or with permission of the EI Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator at the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities. Register by Aug. 28.

Schedule

  • 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 and Oct. 8 and 9, 2024
  • Attendance on all four days is required.

Overview

This introductory training covers core competencies, processes, and best practices to build the foundation of knowledge for those working in Rhode Island’s Early Intervention program. This training format will include self-study, PowerPoint, video, and small- and whole-group activities. 

There is no fee to attend. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided on all days.

Participants will learn about:

  • The 8 Key Principles and Practices. 
  • Requirements and recommended practices in the evaluation and assessment of infants and toddlers.
  • The impact of culture and bias in our work with families.
  • Global and IFSP Child and Family Outcomes.
  • Early brain, and social-emotional development.
  • Coaching and the importance of relationships in Early Intervention.
  • Conceptualizing a child’s functioning using the Child Outcomes Summary Form.
  • Transition from EI and the service provider’s role in this process.
