Securing the Future for Loved Ones with Special Needs: Planning for Succession Caregiving and Support

Topics will include:

  • Strategies for funding a special needs trust – Which assets do you use to fund a special needs trust and how much of your estate should fund it? 
  • Successor guardians and decision-makers – When and how to transfer guardianship, naming alternate agents on a power of attorney or supporters on your supported decision-making agreement.
  • Succession planning for trustees – Exploring different trust options, including using pooled trusts.
  • Building a support network for the next generation – RI Sibs, PLAN RI, Shared Living Arrangements and other ideas.
