Supporting Meaningful Employment: Job Development Mini-Certificate

Job Development is one of three SME mini-certificate series offered to earn an ACRE certificate. This is an in-person training series instructed by professionals with experience managing and supporting employment services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

To earn a certificate, learners are required to attend the modules and mentor/fieldwork sessions listed below and satisfactorily complete one fieldwork assignment. Each module is 3.5 hours and takes place at the Sherlock Center. The mentor/fieldwork sessions are two hours and take place using Zoom.

Job Development mini-certificate schedule:

  • Sept. 5 (9-11 a.m.) - Orientation and Mentor/Fieldwork Session #1 (Zoom)
  • Sept. 12 (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) - Module 1: Foundations in Community Employment Services and Supports
  • Oct. 17 (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) - Module 6: Employment Law, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Disability Disclosure
  • Oct. 24 (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) - Module 7: Job Development I - Job Search Practices to Support Meaningful Employment
  • Oct. 31 (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) - Module 8: Job Development II - Employer Assessment and Individualized Approach to a Job Match
  • Nov. 7 (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) - Module 9: Job Development III - Employer Relationships and Negotiations
  • Nov. 7 (1-3 p.m.) - Mentor/Fieldwork Session #3 - Job Development
