Three new networks for individuals, family members coming soon

Siblings pose together.

The Sherlock Center is excited to announce the upcoming launch of three new networks tailored to meet the unique needs of self-advocates, parents and siblings of adults with disabilities.

If you are interested in joining any of these networks or receiving follow-up information, click the title of each below to provide your contact information.

Parent Network
This network will be an inclusive, supportive space for parents of adults with disabilities to focus on universal issues that affect families. Meetings will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and virtual participation. During the first in-person meeting planned in late spring, the group will decide on the schedule, frequency, format, topics and potential guest speakers for future meetings.

Self-Advocate Network
This group is designed to empower adults with disabilities to take control over their own lives, make decisions, solve problems and speak for themselves. It will also serve to educate the public about the strengths, rights, wants and needs of people with disabilities. This network is still in the development phase, with a goal of launching in the summer.

Siblings of Adults with Disabilities Network (RI Sibs)
This chapter will provide adult siblings with the support, tools and opportunities to advocate, collaborate and engage alongside their brothers and sisters with disabilities. The network aims to foster understanding, unity and a collective voice for change. The first in-person meeting is planned for late June.
